If you miss your turn due to the five day time limit, unless you log in during the 30 minutes after your turn is taken for you, you will miss your chance to purchase the square. So, if you want to be able to purchase squares (or any future similiar dependant actions) you should be logging in and taking your turn yourself. Although I don't see why you wouldn't take your turn if you're able to, since you are fined if you don't.
