PARTY HALL PARTY ARCHIVE

Party Hall Parties are governed by rule 727

The First Party Hall Party - August 7, 1996
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (FUN)
Brinjal (NAP)
Robert Sevin (FOOZBALL)
Techno (Underworld)
this is not a name ((None Yet))

Not all Swingers complied with the first part of Rule 939. In particular Brinjal did not send any messages at all.

Due to a perhaps unintended interpretation of the word "Otherwise", the Gaoler (Brinjal) posted a poem as the second part of the rule requires. Here is the poem:

Ode to Ackanomic

(or, Does the Gumball lose it's flavour on the bedpost overnight?)

Oh, Ackanomic, what a strange twisted game you are
Stranger than Scrabble or Monopoly by far
With rules about rules which conflict with each other
Like parts of some strange constitution, all scrambl'd together

Ah, gleaming Gumball, and little twisted Voting Gnome
To honour thee I would compose a Palindrome
On Trombone I'd serenade thee if the rules did but allow
but such things might be Protected, so I'll end now.

The poem above won the first Silver Moon award for Brinjal on Fri, 11 Oct 1996 21:45:17 -0400

The 2nd Party Hall Party - September 7, 1996
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (FUN)
Brinjal (NAP)
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
Techno (Underworld)
this is not a name ((None Yet))

Not all Swingers complied with the first part of Rule 939.

Brinjal posted another poem:

As I came home from Party Hall, as frunk as frunk could be,
I fell into a kind of trance, an Acka-reverie.
I saw a swarm of steel fleas, a flight of Chartreuse Geese,
a flock of acka-jailbirds all screaming for release.
A whamiol whammed, a Machine went Ping, potatoes hummed and whirred,
a host of other entities made noises most absurd.
And as I stared, my mouth agape, I made a big decision:
to frink each day in case I may see such a harfy vision.

The 3rd Party Hall Party - October 7, 1996
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (FUN)
Brinjal (NAP) [Malenkai acting]
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
snowgod ((None Yet))

All players sent the messages in accordance with the first part of rule 939.

The 4th Party Hall Party - November 7, 1996
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (FUN) [Malenkai acting]
Brinjal (NAP)
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
snowgod ((None Yet))

Some of the messages were not sent, but no poem was ever produced.

The 5th Party Hall Party - December 7, 1996
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (FUN)
(NAP - vacant) [Malenkai acting]
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
snowgod ((None Yet))

Some of the messages were not sent, and snowgod posted this poem on December 9th:

I used to know, at least I thought, but now I don't, I fear.
A hat I am wearing? A lamb I am sharing?
The rules seem so unclear!

What I once knew, I know no more, the rules change so fast,
A Magic Potato or a Tuba I'm bearing?
I knew these things in the past!

But I don't care, no I rejoice, in these paradigm shifts,
Ackanomic is so much fun, even as the ruleset drifts.

The 6th Party Hall Party - January 7, 1997
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (Harf)
Strider (NAP)
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
snowgod ((None Yet))

Some of the messages were not sent, so snowgod posted this poem on January 11th:

Townships and churches, population explosions
Vacationing players and rule implosions
Functional Officers playing musical chairs
These are the things for which Acka cares

Harfy proposals and modest solutions
Flights of the spelling bee and rule pollution
Rules that legislate our Ackanomic homes
I have no clue how to end this poem

The 7th Party Hall Party - February 7, 1997
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (Harf)
Strider (NAP)
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
snowgod ((None Yet))

Some of the messages were not sent, so snowgod posted this very delinquent poem (late partly due to vacations) on February 20th:

Oh ackanomic, when I joined thee
There were rules, but so few
The game was fun, well, it still is
but soon our ruleset grew,
to humongous size and enormous girth
and from this ruleset was given birth
subgames, poetry, And all the rest
theres always something new!

The 8th Party Hall Party - March 7, 1997
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (Harf)
Strider (NAP)
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
Ludwig ((None Yet))

Some of the messages were not sent, so snowgod posted this very delinquent poem on March 18th:

This is a poem about a game
that requires me to write a poem
so awfully written, and so depressing
that you will delight when it has ended

This is a poem about a poem
which was mandated by a game
and a man named ptang1001001sos
who recieved seven points so I could write this.

The 9th Party Hall Party - April 7, 1997
The Swingers at this time were:
Bascule (Harf)
Red Barn (NAP)
Niccolo Flychuck (Vulcan)
Mohammed ((None Yet)) Guy Fawkes (TARZAN's Treehouse)

Some of the messages were not sent, so snowgod posted this very delinquent poem on April 18th:

We have rules

Rules that protect us
Rules that seems stale
Rules that offend us
Rules that throw us in the Gaol
Rules that make us laugh

Rules that require me
to write this awful poetry
