-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORNINGTON NOMIC Proposals for Voting on in Year One, Week Thirty-Four -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 218 - Looking Down the Back of the Sofa [Other, Multiple] Add the following paragraph to Rule 106 (Proposal Submission):- "The email containing submitted Proposals should have a subject line of 'MN: Proposals'. If it does not have this subject line, your Proposals may be considered invalid." Add the following paragraph to Rule 200 (How to Vote):- "The email containing submitted Votes should have a subject line of 'MN: Votes'. If it does not have this subject line, your Votes may be considered invalid." { Speaker's Comments: There'll be far less chance of me losing Votes and Proposals if I can just do a "Sort by Subject Line" to find them at the end of each Week, rather than cutting and pasting them into a file. } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 219 - Drawing a Line [Other, Multiple] 1. Odd one out. [Amendment] In Rule 1059, add the following entry in the table in the appropriate place: "Northern - NT" 2. Doesn't he look pink? [Enactment] Upon Enactment of this Rule, Kevan (for it was e) shall forfeit twenty Kudos points. This Rule shall then Repeal itsef. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 220 - Modified Colours [Amendment, Multiple] 1. How did you do that? [Amendment] In Rule 1001 (The Game State Document), amend the Move format to read:- " : ( via:,) [] Where is the name of the Player making the Move, is a valid Move, via, is the resulting Line of the Move with the route taken if a change of Lines has been made and is an optional Action performed by the Player. Any Action shall be enclosed in square brackets. Only Actions defined by Rules are valid. If no Action is to be performed by the Player, the square brackets are not to be written. Eg: If a player's previous move was to Holborn (CN) and e moves to Euston with a LV of 4, then eir move would be: Rushton: Euston (VC via:CN,NT) [Action] " { Comment: Remove ",NT" from example if previous proposal fails. } 2. No, I con't see that one... [Amendment] In Rule 1059, replace paragraph: " When a Player makes a Move, e should state which Line the Station e is Moving to rests on. If e Moves to an Interchange, e should nominate a Line of eir choice from those available. " with: " When a Player makes a Move, e should state which Line the Station e is Moving to rests on. If e changes Lines during the Move then the Lines of each part of the journey should be stated. If e Moves to an Interchange, e should nominate a Line of eir choice from those available. " {Comments : This is a modified version of the Colours idea. Modifying what Grimace said: "Depending what people think of as the effects of line codes, I think this one could be very interesting. Could require a bit more effort in planning routes, and theres plenty of scope for weird line code-related moves :) ..." } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 221 - Power Failure! [Enactment] On eir turn, any player may perform the post-move action [Power Failure! ()] for any number of lines at a cost of two red tokens per line specified. As a result of this action, any active player currently at a station on one of the specified lines is forced to play "Pass" and eir LV is reduced to zero. No player may move on to or via any one of the specified lines on eir next turn. This rule over-rides any other rule that would make a move of "Pass" illegal. {comment: self-explanatory, vindictive, need I say more?} -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 222 - Keep a Level Playing Field [Amendment] Amend the appropriate rule* concerning multiple games by adding the following sentences at a suitable point*: "If there is more than one game currently in progress, any new player may join which game e chooses. However, in the interests of balance, the speaker may intervene and either elect which game the new player must join, or restrict eir choice. In this instance, the speaker is required to explain eir decision, and if the new player disputes it, e may raise a Call For Judgment." * 'appropriate rule' and 'suitable point' to be defined by speaker if the proposal passes. {Comment: we don't want too much nannying, but we don't want one game to become too popular at the expense of another, do we?} -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 223 - Everlasting Fame, Border Control, Inactivism [Amendment] In Rule 1047 (A New Game), replace "Token counts, Line Velocities and Kudos scores" with "Token counts and Line Velocities". Also replace "When a new Game begins:-" with "When a new Game begins, the following changes are made to the state of that Game and its Players:-" And "The Player to the first Turn is selected at random by the Speaker." with "The Player to the first Turn is selected at random by the Speaker, from the set of Active Players for that Game." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
