Seeing no particular problems with 1.3.3, and plenty of nice new features, I have decided to go ahead with upgrading.
Please note that the TextFormattingRules? have changed slightly from the previous version. This may mean that some old pages look a bit funny. If you find a page like this, please take a minute to fix it up. Thanks.

I've upgraded NomicWiki to PhpWiki 1.2.2. This is mainly a bug-fix, so you won't notice any immediate differences. However, hopefully it has fixed the bug in the zip-dumps which was preventing me from upgrading the wiki to version 1.3, which has a large number of exciting new features. Watch this space.
I have set up a test site for version 1.3.3 and have copied the current NomicWiki pages across. The new site is located at (link now dead).

I've upgarded the NomicWiki to PhpWiki 1.2.1, which is really just a bugfix release, so no significant changes should be noticed (except it seems to always put a blank line after every <hr> tag now, which is a bit annoying.)
It seems that I did something wrong in the upgrade process and lost some changes from the last couple of days. My apologies. Next time I'll know better.
I'm working on upgrading to v1.3.1 which has all manner of nice new features.
The 1.3 branch is still under development, but is reportedly fairly stable.

There is a small battle going on over the database entries for Nomopoly III and Socialnomic II. The question is whether these games should have their own entries or be combined into the entried for Nomopoly and Socialnomic.
I think having just one entry is neater, but I can see arguments for either. What do other people think?
Consensus on the NomicBulletinBoard appears to be that different 'versions' of the same Nomic should have different entries. So be it.

NomicWiki has been upgraded to PhpWiki v1.2. This should be fairly transparent to most users.

I've made what might be an unpopular decision. I have deleted SmartGamer's attempt at starting a game of Nomic on the Wiki. I'm sorry to do this, but I would like to keep the goal of this resource clear. This Wiki is for publishing information about Nomic in general, not for discussion or for data storage for any particular Nomic game. There are other places and resources for such things.
The NomicBulletinBoard is the place for general discussion of Nomic, including discussion of the NomicWiki. If you have anything to say, please post it there, or send it to me privately.
If you want to set up a discussion list or a Wiki on which to play
nomic, then I'm sure that JoelUckelman would be happy to set up a separate area for you on the
nomic.net machine.
I know that this may seem a bit fascist in what is supposed to be a collaborative effort, but I want to maintain the coherency of the Wiki. I have seen other Wikis just degenerate into discussion lists without any useful structure for outsiders. I value all your contributions, but I will from time to time edit and mould them to fit my vision of what this Wiki is supposed to be. I have outlined my vision more thoroughly in my ModerationPolicy.
To prove that I am not a complete Nazi, I have set up a separate Wiki at
http://www.nomic.net/nomicwiki/wikinomic (link now dead, see below), which I offer for any wiki-based Nomic game. I will not interfere with your creative freedom there, and I wish those who are interested the best of luck in their endeavour.
(It is probably not appropriate that WikiNomic remains in the NomicWiki account on nomic.net forever. Perhaps Joel could be convinced to give it an account of its own, which someone else could maintain.)
This nomic, dubbed WikiNomic, has now been moved to its own account on nomic.net further info is available in the WikiNomic database entry. -- MalcolmRyan

I have added an experimental
site map function to the Wiki. It is not complete yet. Tell me how you think it might be made more effective.

Welcome Nomickers to the new millenium!
I thought I ought to create this page to let you know about my plans and developments on the NomicWiki. Principally, this will be a page for me to announce stuff to you, but I leave it publically editable so that you can comment and contribute. If you do want to add anything to this page, however, please italicise it, so that it is clear that it is not from me.
I have started this Wiki without much thought about exactly how I want it to develop. That is, perhaps, a good thing, as it is meant to be a collaborative effort, and so the plan should not be dictated by me from on high. Nevrtheless, it would be a good thing for us to consider some vision for what we want to do here and how we want things to look. A little unity of style and purpose will make this a useful resource, rather than a rambling mess. Here are my thoughts on the topic.
I have looked at other Wikis, and there are things I like and things I don't. Too many Wikis seem overly introverted, with lots of Wiki-based conversation. I really want to avoid that. This is not a Wiki about Wikis. It is a Wiki about Nomic. Obviously some discussion about Wiki is necessary, in order to achieve that unity of purpose that I mention above, but the purpose of the Wiki should not be lost. Most importantly, a newcomer should be able to navigate all of the Nomic-related pages on the Wiki without being distracted by their "wikiness".
To this end, please avoid turning pages into discussions. This hasn't happened yet, but I have seen all too much of it on other wikis, and I don't think it is useful. Pages are for presentation of information. If you have a different viewpoint on a topic, try to incorporate it into the page, so that a variety of views is presented without it becoming an argument.
Discussion about the Wiki can probably take place on the NomicBulletinBoard for the time being. If necessary, I will create a NomicWiki mailing list at a later date.
A little uniformity of style is also appropriate, and I have take the liberty of editing others pages to represent what I consider GoodStyle?. I do not think this is inappropriate. I strive not to change the content of others' pages (especially their personal pages) in the process. I have written a few comments on good style rules in the GoodStyle? pages. Feel free to suggest others.
As for my plans for the future, well I may soon move the Wiki to a more convenient address, and I have all manner of extra features that I would like to add. But I also have a PhD to write, so things may not move that quickly.
That's all for now. I hope you enjoy the Wiki. Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to contribute to it. (I am particularly gratified to see that PeterSuber himself has stopped by.) It looks like this is going to become a really useful resource.
