NomicPlayers are not all dry, dusty legal minds. They are also creative souls. A number of the larger, more long-standing nomics have had rich artistic histories. Nomics tend to develop their own unique styles of poetry and literature. Too long these riches have only been available to their fellow players. Let us share our creations with one another!
- An Ode to Nomic by Pascal
- (Blatantly stolen without permission from the NomicBulletinBoard)
- Well, after looking over this poetry stuff and being inspirationally whacked over the head by the 239th muse.. er, what's that? she's the one in charge of Nomic-Related Poetry. Sure she is. What do you mean, there are only 9? Things have been improved since ancient greece, you know. Anyways.
- Here's the end product, just so you know that you should probably cover your ears: (or eyes, depending)
- Of SLCs and constructs strange,
- of chartreuse eggs and enchanted tubers*;
- From silly to serious doth this game range
- all of it the fault of a man named Suber.
- A game with rules that amend themselves,
- with no equipment save an ISP;
- No box, no pieces, to clutter dusty shelves,
- nor paper nor writing to waste unneeded trees.
- An abstract game is the thing,
- with perpetually changing rules, and Entities galore;
- Each one different, Agora, Acka, and Thring,
- and Fascist, and Micro, who could ever need more?
- But no, !InterNomic appear'd on the scene,
- another level on which the diversion could be;
- And it became clear that these games had been
- mere islands in a vast virtual sea.
- And since pretty well nothing rhymes with its name,
- I won't do any more to prolong it;
- Simply stating the name of the game:
- This poem's an ode to Nomic.
- [Augh. Whatever.?
- ---Pascal
- (*) That's the Ackanomian Magic Potato I'm referring to, in case you were wondering. 'Suber' is damned hard to rhyme with.
