Agora Nomic is the longest continuously running Nomic known. Agora started in 1993 and has been going on ever since. For many years, Agora maintained a roster of around 20 players. The number of watchers - people who are observing the game and perhaps participating in discussions - is often even higher than the number of players. In early 2001 Agora was hit by the Slashdot effect, and for a while its population was up to about 30 active players - this seems to have been only a temporary thing. In recent years they generally have around 12 players, but they are always ready to welcome more.

Agorans take their Nomic very seriously. Many regard it as much as exercise in philosophy, political science and group dynamics as a game. But they are not above silliness and having fun.

Since Agora has been running so long, almost everything has already been tried (and repealed) a couple of times. Still, people keep coming up with strange new ideas. You're welcome to start watching or playing if you're interested.

Agora is an EmailNomic, presently occupying five mailing lists. Most traffic goes to the three main lists, segregated according to status. In case the main lists break down, as they have in the past, there are two backup lists. To subscribe to the mailing lists:
