-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORNINGTON NOMIC Proposals for Voting on in Year One, Week Forty-Two -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 297 - Whose Idea Was It Anyway? [Other, Multiple] 1. That was *my* idea (enactment) If two or more players make separate Proposals with identical effects, the Speaker or eir nominee may disregard the separate Proposals and automatically pass an Emergency Proposal to the same effect, awarding 5 Kudos points to each player that made the Proposal. If any Player is unhappy with the Speaker's decision, e may challenge it by a Point of Order and the Proposals are then voted on separately in the normal way. 2. I save his life and this is the thanks I get... (amendment) If an Emergency Proposal is passed, the Player that made the Proposal shall be awarded 5 Kudos points. If it fails, e shall lose 3 Kudos. {Comments: I thought up the first bit first, then it occurred to me that there's no Kudos reward for making an emergency proposal. The Kudos penalty is another disincentive against ludicrous Proposals.} -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 298 - Don't be Greedy [Amendment] Add the following sentence to Rule 1.4.4 (Token Running). "Each Player may perform this action no more than once per Station per Game." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 299 - Make your bed and lie in it [Amendment] Add the following to the end of the penultimate paragraph in Rule 1.16.1 (Buzzing): "Once a Turn has been declared Illegal, previous Turns may not subsequently be Buzzed." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 300 - Zone Restrictions [Other, Multiple] { Comment: this Proposal is intended to do two things - introduce the concept of Zones to MN (which has been tried before, but didn't fly), and nullify some annoying features of the Map with relation to Gold tokens. } 1. Zoning Regulations (Enactment) There shall be entities known as Zones, corresponding to those portrayed on the London Underground map. The area on the Map outside of Zone 6 shall be considered to be Zone 7. The border between two Zones shall be termed a Zone Boundary. A Station is considered to be in the Zone portrayed on the Map. Where a Station lies on a Zone Boundary, it is considered to be in both Zones. { Comment: Borrowed some of the wording from Proposal 144 (Week 23), but changed the meaning of Boundary Stations. } 2. Terminal Overload (Amendment) Amend Rule 1.4.4 (Token Running) to read as follows: "If a Player starts eir Turn at a Terminus Station, with the exception of those in Zone 1, e gains a Gold Token." { Comment: Seems like the fairest restriction. The stimulus for this was the realisation that Bank had an important role in cashing in Hats, but that it was also a Terminus so you got a Gold Token in any case. Add to that the Aldgate approach, and the various other Termini hearby, and I think restricting things in Zone 1 is sensible. } --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
