-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORNINGTON NOMIC Proposals for Voting on in Game Two, Week One -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 200 - No, No, Not Over There [Amendment] Rule 1007 (Token Gesture) shall be amended as follows: The paragraph beginning "Unless their destination is otherwise specified" shall be amended to read thus - "Unless their destination is otherwise specified, Tokens forfeited for whatever reason shall be considered to have been placed on a Token Stack at a Station selected by the forfeiting Player. The Station selected must be a valid destination for Token placement, and must be in a different Quadrant than that of the forfeiting Player's final location." { Comment: Merely implementing an idea which has been mentioned on the list to eliminate a random factor which might be abused. } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 201 - Colours [Other, Multiple] 1. Line Colours [Enactment] Each Line possesses a unique Colour property, as displayed in this table. Line name | Line Colour -----------------------+------------ Bakerloo | Ochre Central | Red Circle | Yellow District | Green East London | Amber Hammersmith and City | Puce Jubilee | Grey Metropolitan | Dark Puce Picadilly | Dark Blue Victoria | Blue Waterloo and City | Turquoise DLR | Colourless Note that this includes peak-only sections and the under construction Jubilee section. 2. Station Colours [Enactment] All Stations possess a colour property; found by the Line or Lines the station resides on. If a station is on more than one Line it takes on the Colours of all the Lines running through it, including interchanges. (ie, Chancery Lane is Red, Great Portland Street is Puce, Yellow and Dark Puce, and Baker Street is Puce, Yellow, Grey, Dark Puce and Ochre.) 3. Move Colours [Enactment] Every Move possesses an colour property. The Move Colour is found by taking the total station colours from each station a player passes through in eir move, including the start and end stations : the Move Colour is the predominant colour. If there are two or more equally dominant colours, the Move Colour is all of them If there are two routes a player may take to a station which would result in different Move Colours, e must state in eir comment which route e has taken and the Move Colour this results in. (IE : Holland Park to Bond Street is a Red Move. Acton Town to Hammersmith with an LV of 2 is a Dark Blue move. Acton Town to Hammersmith with an LV of 5 is a Green move. Queensway to Edgware Road is a Yellow and Green move.) {Comments : Depending what people think of as the effects of colours, I think this one could be very interesting. Could require a bit more effort in planning routes, and theres plenty of scope for weird colour-related moves :) ...} -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 202 - The Joy of Plaques [Other, Multiple] [Enactment: Official Positions] There shall be a set of Official Positions determined at the end of a Game and recorded on the Boasting Wall. These Official Positions and the conditions for their assignment to a specific Player are as defined in the table below. If more than one Player satisfies the conditions for an Official Position then it shall be assigned jointly. If no Player satisfies the conditions for an Official Position, then that Official Position shall be recorded as not awarded. Official Position | Condition ------------------+--------------------------------------------------- Winner | Player who Wins the Game Kollector | Player with most Kudos at end of Game Activator | Player Active for most Weeks Banker | Player with most Tokens at end of Game Stubbiest | Player with most Ticket Stubs at end of Game Fastest | Player with highest LV at end of Game Droniest | Player who was Drone Keeper for most Turns Longest Legs | Player making longest normal Move Homiest | Player Moving Home most often { Comment: Just a bit of a variation on the usual Nomic meaning of Official Positions (well, I say 'usual' - the way the term is interpreted in Thring at any rate). I've tried to supply OPs which are fairly unambiguous and definite (although in a fluid rule system those terms are bound to be subject to interpretation). I had toyed with introducing a voting system for OPs of the type "Player Most Likely to Seek World Domination", but I'll leave that for now. } [Enactment: Application to Game One] If Game One has ended when this Rule is enacted, then the Rule "Official Positions" shall be invoked to update the Boasting Wall with Official Position details for Game One. This Rule shall then Repeal itself. [End of The Joy of Plaques] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 203 - Underlining [Other, Multiple] 1. Write That Out A Hundred Times [Amendment] In Rule 1001 (The Game State Document), amend the Move format to read:- " : () [] Where is the name of the Player making the Move, is a valid Move, is the Line Code of the Move and is an optional Action performed by the Player. Any Action shall be enclosed in square brackets. Only Actions defined by Rules are valid. If no Action is to be performed by the Player, the square brackets are not to be written." 2. Line Code [Enactment] The Line Code is a two-letter abbreviation, signifying a Line of the London Underground. The following lists the Lines and their Line Codes. Bakerloo - BL Jubilee - JL Central - CN Metropolitan - MP Circle - CL Piccadilly - PD District - DS Victoria - VC East London - EL Water & City - WC Hamm & City - HC DLR - DL When a Player makes a Move, e should state which Line the Station e is Moving to rests on. If e Moves to an Interchange, e should nominate a Line of eir choice from those available. 3. No Room For Enigmas In Built-Up Areas [Amendment] In Rule 1007, replace " Playing any Station on the same Line | to eir Previous Move, as eir Move | +1 Black | Playing any Station on a different Line | to eir Previous Move, as eir Move | -1 Black" with " Playing a Move with the same Line Code as | eir previous Move | +1 Black | Playing a Move with a different Line Code to eir | previous Move (excepting eir first Move) | -1 Black" { Comments:- As well as making Moves a lot clearer (it can be a complete bugger finding a Station that you're not familiar with, sometimes), it makes the Line-switching stuff rather more useful and easier to keep track of. } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 204 - Reshuffle [Other, Multiple] 1. Blam, Blam, Blam [Repeal] Repeal Rule 1031 (Primrose Hill Geographical Society), Rule 1032 (Windy Commons Geographical Society) and Rule 1033 (Gordon Brown's Fair Fare). 2. We Love You Really, William [Enactment] Upon Enactment of this Rule, William shall receive five Kudos points. This Rule shall then Repeal itsef. { Comments: Too much rulebook space, really, and the "ten-token shortcut" is unlikely to be attempted (and damnably easy to stop once someone gets the Ticket Stub for Euston or something). Sorry to shoot another one of yours down, William, but I'm trying to tidy stuff up before shoving it all over to the new-style Rulebook, and this struck me as a little superfluous. } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 205 - Blackadder Tribute [Amendment] Rule 1057 (Basic Straddles) shall be renamed to "Straddling Nancy". -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 206 - Gapminding [Enactment] A Player may perform the Action "[Mind the Gap]" or the Action "[Ignore the Gap]". Both these Actions require the Player to expend one Silver Token, and come into effect before the Actioning Player's Move. If a "[Mind the Gap]" Action has been performed and no "[Ignore the Gap]" Action has been performed since, Players may not play a Move which has a different Line Code to their previous Move (excepting their first Move). If the "Underlining" Proposal did not pass, this Rule shall Repeal itself. Otherwise, this paragraph shall remove itself from the Rule upon Enactment. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
