-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORNINGTON NOMIC Proposals for Voting on in Week Twenty-Five -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 154 - Burn the Witch! [Other, Resignation] Anorak shall be forced to resign. { Comment: Eir resignation message predated the rules on resignation. } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 155 - The Slippery Slope [Enactment] When a players move takes em on to or through a High or a Hill station, eir line velocity is decreased by 1. When e moves off the station, eir LV increases by 1. When a players move takes em to or through a High Hill station, eir LV is decreased by 2. When e moves off, it is increased by 3. This rule applies as long as a players LV would not be taken below 0 or above 10. If this proposal passes, all players who voted 'FOR' it gain 2 kudos. After this occurs, this paragraph shall remove itself. {comments : well, we need something to hang off of 'Hills and Highs', and this is harmless enough.} -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 156 - Taking Away Sharp Things [Other, Multiple] [Enactment: Open the Cutlery Drawer, Mrs Higgins] A Player may be placed in Spoon by another Player. Whilst a Player is in Spoon e may not perform any aggressive Action, that is any Action which modifies another Player's position, restricts eir movement, restricts eir behaviour, or costs em Tokens or any other Game item. A Spooned Player collects double the number of Tokens which e would normally accrue from eir Moves, but pays the same penalties. Being in Spoon shall not, by itself, prevent a Player Moving to Mornington Crescent. The Spooning shall be specified as an Action of the following form whilst adjacent to the Player being Spooned: [Spooning ] A Player may leave Spoon by Moving to any Station within or on the Circle Line and performing the following Action: [Unspoon] { Comment: Note the wording - this only applies to Actions. Hence a Dollis Hill loop is still legal, because that is a function of the Move itself. As of this writing the Actions prohibited whilst in Spoon are: Blocking, Shunting, Parks & Greens Cascade, Brisges Up, Into Knip If this Proposal passes, Spooning another Player whilst in Spoon will also be illegal. } [Amendment: You Don't Think These Things Are Free, Do You?] Amend Rule 1007 (Token Gesture) by adding the following rows to the Table: "Spooning another Player | -1 Gold" "Leaving Spoon | -5 Tokens of any colour" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 157 - Flying Blind [Enactment] The speaker must post a copy of the current ruleset to the mailing list at the beginning of every week. {Comment: I am frustrated by how long it takes to download the website ruleset and that sometimes it doesn't even include the whole document. Like right now, for instance, I can only read up to rule 1003.} { Speaker's Comment: I did actually ask if anyone wanted me to do this, a while back, and got complete silence in response. [shrugs] Posting the entire ruleset is going to be fairly annoying to people who prefer to use the Web edition - probably best if I just email the ruleset to anyone who's specifically said that they want it every week. I'd welcome discussion of this on the mailing list. } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 158 - Surrealism [Other, Multiple] {comments : To introduce a few hooks and generally start getting things nice and complex} 1. The Surrealist Vote [Amendment] The first sentence of rule 200 shall read "A Vote must be either FOR, AGAINST, HERRING or PASS." 2. Sundry upkeep 'The presence of fish' [Amendment] The first sentence of rule 206 shall read "In any given Week, any Player who makes any Votes FOR, HERRING, or AGAINST is considered present. 3. Anvil Hurling [Enactment] There is a property 'Hurlable' which applies to all entities in the Game. Unless explicitly stated, an entity is not Hurlable. There is a Hurlable entity called The Anvil. If The Anvil is Ownerless, it may be Claimed by any Player who surrenders one red and one blue token and performs the action "[Claiming Anvil]" as part of eir Turn. They will become Anvil Owner at the start of the next players Turn. NB : The Drone is permitted to perform all actions relating to this rule. The Anvil Owner may, during eir turn, Hurl The Anvil at any active Player, who becomes The Anvil Owner. This is performed by the action "[Hurl Anvil to ]". The Anvil Owner may, during eir turn, Hurl The Anvil at any station; The Anvil will return to an unclaimed state. This is done by the action "[Hurl Anvil to ]". If the Target station is Blocked, then it becomes unblocked. Any Players who are at a station which is the Target for a Hurled Anvil are Displaced to an adjacent, unblocked station of the Hurler's choice. This must be signified within the "[Hurl Anvil...]" action thusly : [Hurl Anvil to ; displacing to ] If there are no adjacent unblocked station, all players at the Target station must surrender one of every token colour they own excluding Gold and Silver. They have the property 'Squashed' until they move away from the station. If The Anvil is Hurled at a station, it is said to rest at that station. Station at which The Anvil rests may not be passed through no moved to by any player; they may also be Rebounded off in the normal way. The Anvil remains Resting at that station until it is Claimed by a Player. The Anvil Owner must decrease eir LV by 1 at the beginning of each of eir Turns, unless such an action would reduce eir LV to below 0. The Anvil Owner may not end a move on a Hill station. {comment : suitably complex and hook-laden?} 4. Surreal Factor [Enactment] All proposals may be given a Surreal Factor (abbreviated to SF) by the proposer. The SF must be one of : Boring, Bulbous, p'Tang, Silly, or Quirkafleeg. The SF must be enclosed in curly braces ie : {Silly} If a Player's keyboard does not allow easy typing of curly braces, they must use question marks instead ie : ?Silly? If a Player does not signify an SF for his Proposal, the SF defaults to Boring. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 159 - Wake Up, Damn You [Enactment] Each Player shall have an Apathy Level, being an integer number between zero and three. This is detailed in the Voting Results Document. For each Week in which a Player is Active yet casts no Votes (unless all that Week's Proposals were eir own), eir Apathy Level increases by one. For each Week in which a Player is Active and casts Votes (or if all that Week's Proposals were eir own), eir Apathy Level decreases by one. If a Player's Apathy Level reaches three, that Player loses all of eir Kudos and becomes Inactive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 160 - Blue. No, Yelloaaarggghh... [Enactment] A Player may take back eir most recent Turn and post a replacement GSD to the mailing list, provided that no other Players have taken eir Turn or have Buzzed the Player since. The replaced Turn is deemed never to have occurred. { Comments: Fair, I think, for when you realise your mistake immediately after posting the GSD, and are powerless to take it back. } -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal 161 - Pass the Tokens [Amendment] To the Token Table in Rule 1007, add the following:- "Playing 'Pass' as eir Move | +2 Red | or +2 Blue | or +2 Black" { Comments: A way to gain Tokens irrespective of Piece Position is needed, I feel. } --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
