O Olde Alpha ------------------------------ From: JT Subject: Acka: RBBT Date: Sun, 07 Mar 1999 14:40:10 -0500 (EST) It has been more than a week since the RBBT which is currently in the possession of rice has recharged (I used it on him on the 8th of February). The RBBT is now in my possession. I point the RBBT at Danek, press the button marked "ENERGIZE" and give the anagram of "danke". --JT, not letting himself get RBBT'd. -- [-------------------------------------------------------------------------] [ Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty. ] [ It's hard to seize the day when you must first grapple with the morning ] [-------------------------------------------------------------------------] ------------------------------ From: Uri Bruck Subject: acka : All Dressed up and Nowhere to go. Date: Sun, 07 Mar 1999 19:44:38 -0500 (EST) People of Acka, I just saw that P4105 was accepted, and I'm dissapointed. This is a big step backwards for acka. re-introducing a pale shadow of a structure which, IMO, has not been thought out well enough, does not capture the essence of orgs, and does nothing but adds complexity for its own sake. This series of amendments adds almost nothing new - but attempts to reintroduce a concept that's been done to death, and never really quite took off the ground - what reason is there to believe that this time around it will be any different? Maybe this time Ackans will be creative enough to eliminate the problems which orgs seem to present. I was sad to see orgs repealed but as my voting shows I was hesitant to have it reinstated. Nevertheless, I do not believe that there is any rule which can be thought up that cannot be made to work smoothly with a little creativity. Sylvia Plath never threw away a poem but instead reworked them again and again until she was satisfied. I hope to see this ideal relived in Acka. As regards the use of orgs - they harfily bind Ackans together in groups of similiarly minded individuals which promotes the honourable attributes of antagonism and prejudice. After all, where would we be without petty rivalry and hatred? I hope to see this ideal relived in Acka. Sylvia Plath also stuck her head in the oven. I don't see why we should expect orgs to work any differently this time around. I mean, not much else has changed. rufus ------------------------------ From: "Gavin Logan" Subject: Re: acka : All Dressed up and Nowhere to go.
