ackanomic Digest Thursday, March 04 1999 Volume: 04 Issue: 061 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Acka: Bot stuff From: Joseph DeVincentis Date: Thu, 04 Mar 1999 00:57:49 -0500 (EST) While there doesn't seem to be much call for it, it is causing else...if intermittent trouble, and may well cause others trouble as well, and it wasn't really all that hard, so I have added code to the voting bot to use the python mime utilities to un-quoted-printable-ify the text of any message which contains a Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable header. In addition, since this may result in proposals containing single lines in excess of 1000 characters long, which may not work well with some mail systems, the bot will word-wrap the body (only) of proposals submitted in such messages (only) at 79 characters. This may still result in mail containing high-ascii and control characters, and we already have a problem with some people sending mail containing these characters. If there is demand for it, I might set up an additional filter on proposals which translates these according to some table, possibly player-specific (I would need help compiling the list of translations). Also, if there is demand for it, I could set up the word wrapping feature to apply to all proposals from a given player, in addition to the quoted-printable ones. Finally, due to a player request, there is a new #data command. The #playerdata command has for quite some time been available to dump the contents of the player database into the e-mail, in a tab-delimited format, with several fields on each line, such as a player's name, normal e-mail address, voting characteristic, etc. This results in long lines and is also rather chaotic-looking if you don't then paste the result into a program that converts the tab-delimited format into a tabular form (such as a spreadsheet or the table functionalities of some word processors). The #data command takes one argument, the type of data you want. It returns a list containing the player's name in the first 20 characters of each line, followed by 2 spaces and then the requested data item for that player. /dev/joe ------------------------------ From: Thierry Joffrain Subject: Re: Acka: AWOL -> Vacation (Argh!)
