O Olde Atreides ------------------------------ From: Joseph DeVincentis Subject: Acka: I'm back Date: Sun, 24 Jan 1999 19:23:24 -0500 (EST) I set my player state to Voting, return from vacation, or whatever it is we are doing these days. :-) As promised, I have a new email address. Send mail to me now at devjoe@rcn.com I have implemented P4013 in the Ackabot. This new code will be uploaded in a moment. In addition, I have set up the bot so that it will now send mail that is "From" ackabot@ackanomic.org so replies to bot mail will go back to the bot. Originally, I avoided doing this to avoid the possibility of causing a mail loop. To reduce the likelihood of this, on the message the bot replies with when it can't match your e-mail address to the database (and only on this message), it uses my e-mail address in the "From" line. While JT was unwilling to program K2's RFC into the bot, I don't think it will be too difficult. The bot would entirely keep track of mannna, and perhaps even list each player's mannna next to eir name in the voting reports (which would no longer need to have so many different sections -- each player's vote would simply be listed next to his name). The three n mannna made me think of an old poem about lamas and llamas (which, coincidentally, was posted last night on another mailing list I am on): The one-L lama, He's a priest. The two-l llama, He's a beast. And I will bet a silk pajama, There isn't any three-L lllama! -- Ogden Nash (1902-1971) I was inspired to write one for ma(n/nn/nnn)a: The one-n mana -- it's magical power. The two-n manna -- heavenly food shower. If that proposal passes (no amber banana), We'll cast our votes with the three-n mannna. /dev/joe ------------------------------ From: JT Subject: Re: Acka: I'm back Date: Sun, 24 Jan 1999 20:15:42 -0500 (EST) On Sun, 24 Jan 1999, Joseph DeVincentis wrote: >I set my player state to Voting, return from vacation, or whatever it is >we are doing these days. :-) Welcome back :) --JT [-------------------------------------------------------------------------] [ Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty. ] [ It's hard to seize the day when you must first grapple with the morning ] [-------------------------------------------------------------------------] ------------------------------ End of ackanomic Digest V4 #23 ******************************
