Reasoning: this is a paradox win CFJ Rule 1301 says: c. A Player who disobeys the Church Policy of a Church of which he or she is a member is guilty of Iconoclasm, which is a Crime. It is impermissible for a Player to take a game action which constitutes Iconoclasm if he or she has any legal alternative which would not constitute Iconoclasm. [That is, Iconoclasm normally doesn't happen unless there is no alternative. It is possible for a player to commit Iconoclasm by inaction, though.] Because the Church Policy is continually flipping back and forth between requiring and not allowing its members to donate such trinkets to the Church, it is impossible to determine with finality which state the game was in when I attempted to donate the trinket. -- Trent Acting CotC, Acting Map-Harfer, Acting Thrallmaster, Crazy French-Scotsman, Daring Adventurer, Dungeon Master, Really Weird, Rules-Harfer, Worker Caste, Weird ------------------------------ From: Gabe Drummond-Cole Subject: Acka: all you neutrals can stick this up your frobnotz Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 17:27:35 -0500 (EST) #retract 3891 #end -- Trent Acting CotC, Acting Map-Harfer, Acting Thrallmaster, Crazy French-Scotsman, Daring Adventurer, Dungeon Master, Really Weird, Rules-Harfer, Worker Caste, Weird ------------------------------ From: Gabe Drummond-Cole Subject: Acka: Vacationing Justice (Vynd) Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 17:50:28 -0500 (EST) Jenny has gone on vacation. Also, my new web pages are now named in the same manner as breadbox's old ones (propNNNN.html, not pNNNN.html) Also, code for handling Harfy proposals has been added. If you are the harfmeister, when you declare a proposal harfy, put #harfy NNNN and #end at the top of the message and send a copy to the bot. The bot attempts to keep track of who the harfmeister is and announces accepted harfy proposals (hopefully we will get one before I go on vacation, or at least one I've marked harfy before I leave gets passed, or else we won't get one for quite a while). All this is in preparation for the time I go on vacation, which will probably begin next Friday, December 18. Wilma will also go away then; my alternate email address devjoe@mail.utexas.edu should continue to be active, but I won't be checking it very actively. Memo to myself, do the dumb things you gotta do, unsubscribe from all the stupid mailing lists you are on... I will be gone until I get fully set up in Boston at my new job, and ready to face the onslaught of the game again, and I will then play from yet another email address. JT volunteered privately to take over for me while I am away, but asked that I clean up some of the loose ends I have been promising to do for months (mainly the Status line thing), and today was a day i had time to work on it. Probably the change will be entirely seamless, he will simply take over the bot's account from me, and you will still send proposals and votes exactly the same way. /dev/joe Tabulator ------------------------------ From: Jonathan David Amery Subject: Re: Acka: CFJ 697 (1-INVALID) (Amicus Draconis) Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 18:56:36 -0500 (EST) On Sat, 12 Dec 1998, Gabe Drummond-Cole wrote: > Actions described in the rules may only be performed, and shall only have > those effects,as specified by the rules.
