It's an old math joke - I've seen it before. I especially like this
one because it's the only math joke I've ever seen/heard that relies
entirely on mathematics for its humor (whereas most such jokes rely on
either puns or similar such wordplay, or on caricatures of
mathematicians).

Yeah, I like it too (the other similar one I have is 2+2=5 for extremely
large values of 2), I just can't recall ever putting that into my taglines
file.

I was under the impression that I came after Goldenmean, but Slakko
already played a trump. Can the Ref confirm the turn order one way or the
other, please?

D'oh. It is your turn, and the misplay has just extended the game by
about a year or so.

No monkey baiting this time ;)

J.M Bear and Slakko teamed up to try and snatch Koxvolio's donkey but
eir lariats not only met each other, but a tightly woven blanket (and
matching tail warmer set) covering eir donkey.

Alfvaen and JT went after breadbox but were repelled by lariat tangles
and blanket. Which was unfortunate for Alfvaen 'cause else...if
purloined one of eir donkeys and drove the other into the Wilds, or
rather would have... seeing the impending disaster Astro deftly tangled
eir lariat with else...if's. IdiotBoy and TGW met with similar lariat
difficulties while trying for Vynd's Donkey (which I'm told has a purty
mouth) who retaliated by snatching TGW's (tho it was IdiotBoy who made
the comment ;).

Having gotten a taste of Hubert's donkeys in the green round /dev/joe
grabbed another, while Hubert was off acquiring more stock from Robert
Sevin.

Rex Mundi and Fortunato grabbed the admirable and respectable ;)
Goldenmean and Tom Kitten.

Pandora took cover.

Everyone else, dazed by the fast paced action, stood around admiring eir
donkeys.

Eliminations:
previous round: 8
this round: 5
0 The Gingham Wearer - eliminated
0 Goldenmean - eliminated
0 Robert Sevin - eliminated
0 Tom Kitten - eliminated

The GAL for the yellow round:
2 Alfvaen
1 Astro
2 breadbox
1 Calvin N Hobbes
2 /dev/joe
1 else…if
3 Fortunato
1 Hubert (lost eir donkey but grabbed Robert Sevin's)
1 IdiotBoy
1 J. M. Bear
1 JT
2 Koxvolio
2 Pandora
3 Rex Mundi
2 rufus
1 saaremaa/Malenkai
1 Slakko
1 UglyBigNose
3 Vynd

As Slakko and his partner have pointed out, this is a misplay due to it
not being Slakko's turn, but rather, his partner's turn. Slakko's play
is disregarded (except for counting as a misplay and deducting 100 points
from the Sla team's score) and his partner should play a card to continue
the round, following suit after the King of Hearts if possible.
