From: Eric Plumb <plumb@hawaii.edu>
Subject: Acka: Fictionary round 5

One Bluffer committed a correct definition for "spital." Three guesses as
to who it was, and the first two and a half don't count.

The remaining definitions are:

1. A hospital.
2. Of or pertaining to farming; as in Spitalfields.
3. A Doric pedestal.
4. ""
5. feeling worse than usual, indisposed
6. A small stake.
7. A set of small skewers projecting out from a main spit.
8. a small container into which mushrooms may be placed.

With two adjectives, five nouns, and a pair of quotation marks, we're sure
to have a rousing round of sneering this time. Bluffers, please vote --
publically -- within three days. (Speaking of which, I'm sorry I got this
off somewhat late.)

Why is it that in fictionary it always seems like we have too many too good
definitions, or else none of the definitions sounds right?

I vote for #5.

I agree with /dev/joe, these definitions all sound bogus. I'll cast my

I am confused here. Have we already gone through the initial 2 decks and
started on a third? I didn't think we had used anywhere near this number
of cards. I have been dealt 2 Aces of Spades this game as penalty cards
(one of which I have already played) so I am confused how TGW can have
another one.

I won't begin to mention how confused I am about the rule for this round.

There was an amendment to the rules of Eleusis which allows the Deus to
add a new pack whenever the deck runs out of cards. The number of
incorrect plays are rapidly increasing the rate at which this deck run-out
is occurring.

It appears that /dev/joe is correct and somehow 3 A of S have ended up
being dealt out when only two should have been.. (this is most likely an
error of mine or an error in my shuffle program (either is likely). I
will check the cards remaining in the deck, the cards already played and
the cards I have listed in players hands and attepmpt to reconcile this.
Most likely Joe, you will recieve a card to replace the AS in your hand
since it hasn't been played yet. :/
I will also find and correct any other such anomolies that I run across.

Thanks for pointing it out cause I wouldn't have noticed it.

The only problem of course being that I didn't need to add a third deck
yet. Someone must have snuck that extra Ace into the deck when I wasn't
looking, but I'll correct it shortly.

Thanks to /dev/joe's keen eye, I have found the error which caused 3 A S
to get dealt. It really was an error, and it really was on my part. I
have privately issued the one card correction which needed to be made.

I also hereby award /dev/joe a FairPlay award for noticing and reporting
the flummox.

I'll assume that else...if's play is still valid, but that it comes after
TGW's incorrect play as it should instead of after /dev/joe's play as the
mail indicated.

Hubert, judge the 'A H' by else...if in that light :)

I create a trinket called "6", value A$6, with the following description:

"Triply digitized, it is the Number of the Beast(which is a human number).
It is the number of lines in each stanza of a sestina, except the last.
It is the smallest perfect number. It is the seventh digit in the decimal
expansion of pi(after the decimal point). It is half of twelve, and twice
three. It is the number of the sense that few will admit exists. It has
been known to go together with 9. Some people spent this much time in a
leaky boat. This sentence contains that many words. It is the number of
the sheep of the identically-numbered sheik which is sick. Being at sevens
with them as well can be confusing.

It is also, apparently, a small stake."

I offer this to else...if for A$300.
