The Amanita Flora blooming

Balsamic Dragon wrote (October 30, 1997):

Probably not the answer, but appropriate nonetheless.

"A Poison Tree"
Blake

I was angry with my friend;
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I waterd it in fears,
Night & morning with my tears:
And I sunned it with smiles,
And with soft deceitful wiles.

And it grew both day and night.
Till it bore an apple bright.
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine.

And into my garden stole,
When the night had veild the pole;
In the morning glad I see;
My foe outstretchd beneath the tree.

Prhaps this was a refrence to "The Flowrs of Uatmala" by REM?

[copyrighted lyrics cut so ASCAP lawyers don't get on my case :-)]

Rex Mundi wrote (November 1, 1997):

So far, no one has found the Flora Amanita. Malenkai was the first to attempt to find it after the first clue had been published, but a string of asterisks was not the correct solution. Neither does the subject need to be in ""'s.

Special mentions to **two-star, who identified the Flora Amanita as being from REM's "The Flowers of Guatemala", from Lifes Rich Pageant, and to Balsamic Dragon, who informed us that "The actual Amanita is, of course, a hallucinogenic and poisonous mushroom, not a flower". The sum total of The Rex Times' knowledge on this matter is "Flora amanita: indigenous to meso-amer. Flora", from the sleeve of the LRP CD.
